Rescue Dynamics - Emergency First Response Courses

NOW AVAILABLE ! PADI Scuba Courses and Emergency First Response First Aid and CPR Courses

EFR or Emergency First Response is a CPR, AED and First Aid training agency that is a corporate affiliate of PADI. Their programs closely follow the PADI model of self-directed study. As such, the motivated learner can more easily fit EFR fiirst aid and CPR courses into an active lifestyle.

In addition the EFR courses fit well as a basic first aid course for divers looking to proceed into a Rescue Diver course.. The EFR Primary and Secondary Care courses meet the prerequistes for entry into Rescue Diver training.

Unlike other course providers who have minimal equipment and supplies for hands-on practice we have one adult / child manikin and one infant manikin per participant. This maximizes hands-on time. We have one AED manikin and training unit for two participants (AED is usually practiced in groups of two or three) and for those courses where oxygen administration is added we have one complete oxygen unit per participant.

For splinting and bandaging practice each participant has the materials they need to practice the skills without having to wait to share equipment with other students. This ensures we don't waste your valuable time. At the end of the course you also get to keep the SAM(tm) splint and bandaging supplies you were practicing with. There is no point in practicing with something you don't own.

Since we are now also offer DAN courses as well as PADI Scuba courses up to and including the Advanced Diver, Rescue Diver and Divemaster levels we can easily custom tailor a course for you to advance your diving right up to the PADI Pro Divemaster level. For example, if you want to combine an EFR First Aid & CPR course with a DAN DEMP course and a PADI Rescue Diver course to obtain the DAN Dive Emergency Specialist rating we can readily accomodate you for a private or semi-private course. More details on these offerings will be forthcoming in early 2008. Contact us at any time if you want to organize a course at your location or ours.

EFR Care for Children Course

The Emergency First Response Care for Children course is an innovative CPR, AED and First Aid training course that teaches participants how to provide emergency care for injured or ill children (ages one to eight) and infants less than one year old. Participants learn about the types of medical emergencies that children face, and how they differ from adult conditions. The curriculum also includes the importance of attending to basic emergency situations with children, the emotional aspects of caring for children, secondary care for children, and preventing common injuries and illnesses in children.

Emergency First Response Care for Children course trains the lay rescuer to follow the same priorities of care used by medical professionals. The student masters the priorities and the procedures of patient care for infants and children in a non-stressful learning environment, which reduces the performance anxieties that interfere with learning and enhances confidence when rendering aid in a real medical emergency.

The course includes both primary care (CPR) and secondary care (first aid) skills. The primary care portion of the course prepares the rescuer to render aid to an infant or child with a life-threatening emergency such as choking or cardiac arrest. Secondary care focuses on developing secondary patient care skills and building the rescuer's confidence to render first aid to an infant or child in need when emergency medical services are either delayed or unavailable. The Care for Children course content is based on guidelines from the Pediatric Working Group of ILCOR.
